How to use the Global feature

The Global feature in MacWhisper lets you quickly transcribe audio from your microphone on top of all your other apps. You configure a keyboard shortcut in settings and after that you can just use this shortcut anywhere to quickly transcribe some text to use anywhere on your Mac.

How to enable Global in MacWhisper

Open MacWhisper Settings or click on the Global button on the homepage to open the Global Settings.

Select the keyboard shortcut input field and type the keyboard shortcut you want to use to trigger Global mode. Choose any combination that you prefer. 

When you hit that keyboard shortcut you will see the Global overlay appear after which you can start recording and transcribing.

Auto Start

You can automatically start a new recording whenever you open Global to make the transcription process even faster.

Auto copy

You can automatically copy the generated transcript to your clipboard after transcription is finished.

Always on Top

By default the Global window appears floating of every other app and it will also stay visible even when interacting with other apps. You can change this by turning off the "Always on Top" toggle.
