How to use the Cloud Transcription feature

With the cloud transcription feature, you can transcribe files by using different AI providers that offer cloud transcription services. The supported providers are OpenAI, Groq, ElevenLabs, DeepGram and custom OpenAI compatible providers

Configuring Cloud transcription providers

To set up cloud transcription, open MacWhisper settings and go to the cloud transcription page. And here you can add your API key for the different providers as well as change settings if needed.

Setting your cloud provider

From the model picker in the top right corner of the homescreen you can then select your cloud transcription provider

Limitations

Each of the cloud transcription providers have limits to be aware of

OpenAI - 25 MB file size limit

Groq - 25 MB file size limit

ElevenLabs - 1 GB file size limit*

Deepgram - 1 GB file size limit*

*Although ElevenLabs and Deepgram support up to 1GB files, this may not always work reliably if your internet connection is too slow
