Assistant

Users of Whisper Transcription (the App Store version of MacWhisper) can subscribe to MacWhisper Assistant as an optional subscription. If you want to use your own API keys you will not need to subscribe.

The Assistant feature helps you get the most out of your transcripts. It currently help you with the following tasks:

Translation

Translate transcripts into more than 30 different languages on the macOS version of the app.

AI Prompting

Chat with your transcript to get relevant information for your queries and prompts (iOS and macOS)

Summary

Instantly generate a summary of your transcript. Get the highlights and action points of a meeting, the bullet points of each section of an interview or a timestamped overview of the most important parts of a conversation (iOS and macOS)

Cloud Transcription

Transcribe your recordings on our powerful servers by using the Assistant Cloud Transcription feature. Your audio file will be transcribed at the highest quality, without taxing your Mac. This feature is great for when your Mac is not super fast, or when you're in a rush. Note that any media files you transcribe with the Cloud transcription feature will be sent to our servers for transcribing, so don't use this feature with sensitive data (iOS and macOS)

iOS app

On iOS, there’s no Pro unlock — all features, including local models, are free to use. You can now also add your own API keys for cloud transcription and AI prompts.

There is an optional Assistant subscription you can purchase if you’d rather use our servers for cloud transcription and AI-generated summaries. This has ongoing costs for us, and isn't included with a purchase of the mac app. You only need to subscribe to this if you want to do cloud (instead of on-device) transcription, and don’t want to use your own API key.
