Automatic Meetings Recordings with MacWhisper
You can easily record and transcribe all your meetings with Automatic Meeting Recording. Whether you’re in Zoom, Teams, Webex, or another popular meeting app, MacWhisper can detect when a meeting starts and remind you to record. Once the recording is complete, effortlessly transcribe it and identify speakers with ease.
🚀 Beta Feature Notice: Automatic Meeting Recording is currently in beta. While we refine the experience, there may be occasional issues or data loss. For critical meetings, we recommend using manual recording to ensure your files are safely captured.
Ready to streamline your workflow? Let’s dive into the setup and features!
Enabling Automatic Meeting Recordings
- Open Settings or click on Record Meetings on the landing page of the app.
- Navigate to Record Meetings in the sidebar.
- Toggle Automatic Meeting Notifications to enable meeting detection.
Automatic meeting recording notifications are only supported on MacWhisper and not on the version that's available on the Mac App Store (Whisper Transcription)
The Record Meeting features requires Screen Recording and Microphone permission in order to work.
Supported Applications
MacWhisper supports automatic detection for popular meeting apps, including:
Arc Browser, Brave, Chime, Chrome, Discord, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Skype, Slack, Teams, Telegram, Webex, WhatsApp and Zoom.
FaceTime is not available due to privacy restrictions built into macOS.
To customize which applications are observed:
- Go to Settings, Record Meetings.
- Click on the dropdown.
- Select or deselect apps as needed.
Recording a Meeting
When MacWhisper detects a meeting, you will see a Meeting Detected notification. To start recording:
- Click Record in the notification.
- The meeting recording will start and will be visible on the main window of the app.
Note that the notification automatically gets dismissed after 10 seconds if no action is taken
Naming Attendees
You can set the default names for yourself and meeting attendees.
- Your Name: Set your display name.
- Meeting Participants: Set a default label for the other people in the meeting. Right now they are grouped as one speaker, but when automatic speaker recognition is released we will split it into all speakers.
Transcribing a Recorded Meeting
Once your meeting is finished you can stop the recording from the bottom right side of the MacWhisper main window, or from the Meeting Ended Notification. Afterwards the meeting recording will appear in your history sidebar. To transcribe the meeting select the history item and wait for it to transcribe.
